I have a secret. I was terrified of selling items on eBay until about 6 months ago. I finally decided to dig in my heels and give it a try. The first thing I did was a little research. I went to my friend Google and started searching. I was able to find tons of information about how to sell on eBay.
The most important tips or useful information I found from my research is to research. It’s very simple to look up and see what an item has sold for on eBay and how often it is selling.
This is some Basic information:
eBay gives you 50 free listings a month. I didn’t know this before.
Start with what you have at home. We had tons of items that we no longer wanted or needed. This gave me a risk free way to try eBay with zero invested.
Check Sold Listings. After you have found the items around your house that you would like to sell you need to check eBay Sold Listings to see what the item sold for.
Weigh Your Item. You will need to know the weight for shipping information.
Create Your Listing. After you figure out what you want to sell your item for you need to create your listing. Within the listing you will enter your item information. Take great photos and describe your item. If it is a clothing item it’s always good to add measurements. List any defects or damage you see.
Shipping information. You add how the item is going to be shipped when you are creating your listing. They give you options to choose from. Just put in weight of item, etc.
Submit item for Sale. Then wait on your sale. You will receive all the information from eBay about where to ship the item.
The other big secret I have to selling on eBay is going to the Goodwill Clearance Center.
I did a previous post on items that I have been able to purchase from the clearance center. We took our love of thrifting and turned it into a way to make a little profit. We go once a week and spend about an Hour to an Hour and a half in the Clearance Center. We only go on the days that they have 50 % off the store. That way our out of pocket is low.
I spend a total of 8 hours or less on eBay each month and average around $500-$600 dollars a month. If I invested more time then the profit would be more. I have found that this is the perfect amount of time to be able to still balance my Children’s occupational therapy appointments.
What are some ways you like to make money while staying home with the kids?
